Travel Hack – Flying to Italy

Flying to Italy

When I first started traveling I read blogs that talked about travel hacks and getting amazing flight deals. Without ever having done it myself though, I was skeptical. I’m happy to report after scoring great deals on just about every trip, that it absolutely IS possible. If you’re traveling and planning on visiting more than one area look into booking your flights as multi city. That means arriving at one airport and flying home from another. It can save you a ton! I just booked 2 roundtrip flights in September including seat reservations from JFK to Rome, and then leaving Italy from Milan Malpensa airport to JFK for $920 USD, that’s $448 per person to fly overseas!! Of course you demand to see proof of this, right?

Proof that you can find great deals on your flight
You can fly to Europe cheaper than some U.S. domestic flights!

Helpful Tools…

Skyscanner: Allows you to search by specific dates or browse through monthly charts showing the cheapest days to fly. There is also the multi city feature to search for different arrival and departure airports.

Google flights: As far as seats left at certain prices in real time, Google is more accurate.

Hopper: This app tracks prices for specific dates, or for a range of time and updates you when it finds good rates for a flight. It will also advise you to buy now or wait.

On a Tuesday, maybe…

Almost everything I’ve read out there says Tuesdays are the cheapest days to fly, but that’s not the case, there really is no recurring day that I find deals on. This is why I love Skyscanner’s ability to click through days throughout the month you plan to go is great. I will say though, I’ve had excellent luck booking my flight on Friday mornings. Prices were $60 cheaper on Friday for flights even booking only 2 weeks out for a last minute trip to Europe. Booking the trip I mentioned earlier 2 months out saved me almost $200.
